I am enjoying this exchange Erik, especially since I was in attack mode a bit at first, feeling under attack myself since I identify with Socrates strongly. Where we are now is really your initial point — question deep important areas of society at the wrong time and you could be in deep shit, maybe justifiably. There are no simple universal formulations and my claim that ‘it’s always right to question’ needs context and qualifiers.

A vague idea is emerging in my mind that there could be article: Socrates Got Cancelled.

Maybe we could co-write it. Not a simple, ‘you on one side me on the other.’ Maybe if we just continue our exchange and then bring it all together and edit it, who knows. Any thoughts? Our slight tension really sparks thinking for me. (ps, besides being a philosophy-oriented person, I also love history and am highly influenced in this aspect of history by The Hemlock Cup by Bettany Hughes, a wonderful historian imho)
