We talk about Death in VR.

We’ve been doing it every Tuesday morning at 10 am west coast time since early March, when we all entered an interval between different ways of being.

Death has assumed a higher than usual profile lately. It’s harder to ignore.

What do you do when there’s Death Stats everywhere you look? Makes it pretty obvious you’re a just Death Stat yourself, waiting to be counted.

The Death Anxiety rheostat has been turned up.

People react differently. Denial takes different forms. So does suffering. Acceptance isn’t always serene. Appreciation doesn’t mean you have to like it.

The first person to raise their avatar hand today said the earth was obviously rising up and killing some of us because we screwed up; we brought this on ourselves. We will have to be strong to survive, she said.

She delivered this view with some feeling, but mostly like a sober rational analysis.

I asked her if it made her feel better looking at it this way?

She said definitely yes. It made it not feel so much like someone is doing something to me, or to all Americans or something. We did this by the way we built up the world. Now we see what happens.
